Our newest performance shortboard in collaboration with Chemistry’s team riders. The Side-A model fits between our user friendly R2 model and our most high-performance board the B-Side. The Side-A has a deep single concave which allows this model to gain speed very quickly. The nose is more pulled in than our R2, and the back half of the outline is a bit straighter which allows you to gain maximum speed effortlessly.

This totally re-designed version features a dramatically reduced area in the forward outline that helps the board sit on rail and drive more through a turn compared to previous versions with a wider outline which traditionally pushes more away from the wave face and sits flatter through the turning radius.

The rocker still maintains the original concept from previous versions but has been enhanced with a touch more curve in the tail for slightly quicker reaction times off the back foot whilst still retaining that instant light speed from takeoff that the model is famous for.

The volume distribution has also seen a slight shift forward of centre so as to give more foam under your chest area for more paddle power and means slightly less thickness in between your stance for added sensitivity.

The wing / swallow tail combo allows for a straighter rail line speed and also reduces the area in the rear fin area for more hold and drive. Ride 3 to 4” shorter than your regular board.

The outline in the front half stays the same as always with the full forward forgiving nose area that just eats up dead sections while the main change in this edition is we removed the flyer all together and replaced it with an aggressive hip which leads into a straight rail line giving way more drive than ever before and more well rounded smoothness to the overall feel of the board.

With a slight single concave between the feet for lift and a slight vee double concave in the last 6” of the tail, helps with the transition on rail that these types of designs tend to lack due to the curvy outline and finishing with a “Stealth Swallow” for nice bite and control. This latest creation has slightly altered straighter tail rocker combined with a deep vee double concave and a really flat entry rocker with full nose outline and a more tapered forward rail so the wider nose outline bit in rather pushes away when initiating your turns but with solid drive from the back end of the board from the double concave with vee bottom configuration. Running a slight hip just before the fins frees up the width the board carries in the outline which does two things:
a) Breaks the outline to enhance response and
b) Adds some drive off the straighter rail line which runs into a squash round tail for an overall smooth feel.

With the unique fuller area in the nose and the wide point pushed a little forward of centre gives it a very forgiving feel off the front foot so a bit like an accelerator pedal to drive forward of your front foot then with a slightly drawn tail outline with a hint of round pin tail it allows it to draw a solid turn on rail for a nice connected feel.

The balance with this design between your front and back feet with little adjustment lets you drive down the line yet connect turns with precision. Incorporates a slightly refined rail similar to your normal performance shortboard so still lets the rail penetrate the water and bite to balance out the wider forward outline coupled with a medium nose rocker that fits smoothly in tight sections.

We are offering this model in two different dimension sizes as the versatility allows it to be either surfed as your all round shortboard if you like a bit of area up front or small wave performer if you like to carve on rail on small days. Ride the same or 1’ shorter than your regular shortboard if you want it as an allrounder and 2’ to 3’ shorter if you want to ride it in the wide dimensions.
